Your job is safe. Your skills are relevant. Until they’re not. I thought I was ahead of the curve. Professor. Engineer. Entrepreneur. I’ve been teaching others how to lead change for years. But prepping for class the other day… I had a realization I didn’t expect: I might not be seeing the threats to my own career. So I tested something. I asked ChatGPT a brutally honest question: “What could actually make my job as a professor irrelevant?” Not in theory. In real life. In the next few years. What it gave me felt like a gut punch. > That AI could teach faster and cheaper > That companies are building their own credentialing systems > That even tenure can’t protect you if the system breaks And that’s when it hit me: If I didn’t see these blind spots… how many others are coasting without a clue? So I built a simple prompt. I’m now sharing it with clients and students to help them: ... Uncover hidden risks ... Spot real opportunities ... Create a long-term plan to stay relevant I’ll drop the full prompt in the comments. Try it. See what comes up. #futureofwork #careerstrategy #companyofone #ai #chatgpt #leadership

From Student to Systems Leader: The IEM Journey in Action We're proud to spotlight one of our exceptional alumni and IEM Ambassador, Reginald Holmes, MEng, CSEP, PMP®, who continues to raise the bar in technical leadership and innovation. Since graduating from the IEM@UAB - Information Engineering and Management in Spring 2022, Reginald has stepped into a pivotal role as Chief Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman, leading strategy and integration across advanced engineering systems. His impact was recently recognized with the Modern-Day Technology Leader Award — a national honor celebrating emerging leaders in STEM. He’s also pursuing a Ph.D. in Systems Engineering, with a research focus on AI System Safety — a field shaping the future of technology and society. Reginald has presented at top academic forums including AI4SE and CSER, and his recent peer-reviewed paper: "Navigating Uncertainty: Enhancing AI System Safety through the Integration of Systems Theory and R3+ Concepts" dives into building AI systems that are not just capable — but robust, reliable, and resilient in the face of uncertainty. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e864CRUT Reginald embodies what IEM is all about: turning technical skills into strategic leadership, transforming research into real-world impact, and leading with clarity and purpose. Congrats, Reginald — your journey continues to inspire the entire IEM community.
